A daily menu is displayed in the Nursery and below we have attached the current 5 week rolling menu, running during the Winter Term.
All meals are freshly prepared from 'scratch' on site and where possible food is sourced locally. We have taken special care in providing a balanced and nutritional menu to suit the needs of young children.
We will work with all parents to meet the individual medical, cultural and dietary needs of the children. Introducing them to a variety of tastes, textures and food from different cultures helping to promote an excellent wide pallet, resulting in healthy food behaviours.
In addition, following the recent headlines re reducing your meat
consumption, being the single biggest way to reduce our impact on the environment (see article https://www.theguardian.com/
As you know we firmly believe at Elephant & Castle Child Care Centre every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. This had led us to have a have a rethink of the impact we are having on the planet for the future generations and believe we have more than a moral duty to protect this, for the children and families of the children we provide care for here at the Centre.
With it being suggested that we should be reducing our meat consumption, we have taken a step towards introducing meat-free meals into our menus. This has taken some time to put together so can ensure every child is getting a healthy and balanced diet.
We would love to hear your feedback on the below menu, do you have any recipes at home which are a winner that we could try and any other ideas you may have that we can consider adopting here at the Centre?
